Christmas!

So the Christmas extravaganza is over. It is always hectic and a little stressful to accomodate our families and to try our best to fit everyone in, but we made it! We have taken the attitude of doing what is best for Brayden (and soon to be Keaton) and trying to still see as much family as we can.

Drew's parents and sister came down Christmas Eve afternoon to share in the festivities here in Georgetown.

One Christmas tradition we started was on Christmas Eve we go to church. (Of course we started this tradition before Brayden had a terrible aversion to church!) So we went to Gano on Thursday night which is where my parents and sisters were as well. Brayden lasted through a few songs, and then got upset and COULD NOT be consoled so him and myself spent the Christmas Eve service in the nursery playing with trucks. I guess we did follow tradition, but just spent it in the nursery.

We then went to my parent's house where we had dinner with my parents and sisters and Drew's parents and sister. Brayden got a big catepillar truck, musical drumsticks, and a basketball goal. He loved showing off his hoop skills and kept shooting the ball over and over. I got lots of maternity clothes, and I gave Drew his PS3. Yes, I am a great wife. :)

Christmas morning was spent at our house, and Drew's parents and sister were here to see Brayden. His face was priceless when he came down the steps and saw the toys underneath the tree. He had a lifesize Elmo, another catepillar truck, a bounce turtle, and a cars suitcase. Gran and Grandpa gave him a fisher price nativity set that is precious! He kept running from one toy to the other. Drew's family left shortly after his presents and we hung out at the house for a while.

After nap time we headed to Drew's aunt's house in Cincinnati for Christmas night. (We missed my dad's family but it was impossible to fit everyone in!) There we had a yummy dinner and Brayden received a whole bunch of Disney's Cars gear for his big boy room.

We went on up north to Drew's parents house that night. We did their family Christmas on Saturday. Brayden got a potty seat, and the fisher price little people animals a-z collection which is awesome. I collect the willow tree figures, and his mom got me the willow tree nativity set!! It is beautiful!

Sunday afternoon we headed home to KY, and went to see my mom's family as soon as we got back. It was nice to see my aunt from Florida, and it was fun watching all the little cousins running around!

I am really enjoying my time off, and this week am catching up with family and spending time with my sweet boy!

Brayden and Keaton updates!

Yesterday Brayden went to the doctor for his 18 month checkup. I was already a little wary about getting his shots because he has had a cough and runny nose. Come to find out he has an ear infection so we did forgo the shots for two more weeks when they will check his ear again. They put him on an antibiotic, and hopefully his ear will clear up!

Every time the nurse of doctor even approaches Brayden he freaks out. Putting him on the scale, measuring his length, and head, listening to his heart, looking in his ears and eyes all result in a meltdown that would make you think they were stabbing him! We are a little dramatic at the doctor's office!

Besides the meltdowns and the ear infection, Brayden is growing beautifully. He weighed 27 pounds in the 60 percentile, measured 33 1/2 inches in the 75 percentile, and his head was in the 95 percentile. :) Dr. Q. was very impressed with how he had grown two inches in the last three months and how tall he had gotten! He is also right on target with the milestones.

Today I went to the doctor to get an update on Keaton. I had gained 6 pounds this month which brought me to 121. My weight is now gaining instead of losing. Dr. Spirek was very excited about my weight gain, and although Drew tries to give me a hard time about how my weight fluctuates so much she told me I need to gain as much as I can. So I am very excited about enjoying my foods. Keaton's heart rate was 160- he is just as active as his brother always was. We go back next month for the glucose test.

Until then we will be enjoying Christmas break. I am spending time with my sweet Brayden and getting some rest! My house is clean and I haven't had to rush like I normally do during the work week. It is very nice!

Updates!

So I am so excited to have the next two weeks off of work! I love my job, but this year has been trying with my extra load of students. I also love the time to reconnect with my sweet little boy and spend some quality time with him.

Brayden has been sick the last few days with a cold. He doesn't like taking his medicine, and has been extra sleepy.

We did go to his swim lesson today at the Pavilion. We started these a few weeks ago, and he does really well. He is the youngest one in the class, but he jumps in the pool, reaches for objects, is learning to float and kick and become really comfortable with the water.

Brayden still loves his books, and will bring a book to you and back up and sit in your lap for you to read it to him. He also loves music. As soon as we get in the car he says music and we have to turn on his veggie tale cd. Whenever we are upstairs we have to listen to his music and jump on the bed "monkey" as he likes to call it, while the music is playing. When the song ends he bounces down on his bottom and claps. Then we are up and bouncing again for the next song.

He knows his colors, can repeat the letters in the alphabet after me, and can tell you pretty much anything that he wants. He still gets his paci in bed, but has been a trooper with letting go of it during the day. We are thinking about trying taking the paci away soon, but we will see how that goes! He was terrified of the bath tub for a few months, but now loves bath time again. He is terrified of getting his nails or hair cut. Which is real convienent since he needs that done all the time! He loves looking at the Christmas cards we have received, and naming the people in the pictures.

We have been wondering how he is going to do with the arrival of his baby brother, and thankfully there is a baby at Krisi's house that is getting him used to a newborn. He has done so well with baby Sarah that I am optimistic. He says "gentle" when he touches her, and whenever he talks to Sarah or about Sarah he talks in a high pitched voice.

Brayden goes to the doctor on Monday for his 18 month check up, and we go to the doctor on Tuesday for Keaton's check up. I will post about how both boys are doing!

A little overdue...It's a boy!!

So Drew and I found out a few weeks ago that we are having another healthy baby boy!! We really didn't care either way what this baby was going to be, and although I was sad for the little girl I didn't have for a few days we are so blessed and excited for Brayden to have a little brother! He was big and healthy! We decided on naming him Keaton Micah. Brayden is starting to understand a little more, and the other day he touched my belly and said baby. I don't think he has much clue as to how that is going to affect his life, but he now acknowledges there is a baby besides himself. :)

Baby update, halloween, and swim lessons

So we went to the doctor a few weeks ago to check up on baby Beckett, and everything was going well. I still am below my start weight, but the baby's heart rate was good- 165 and everything was well. Next time we go to the doctor we find out what the baby is! Nov. 24th is the big day!

Halloween was last weekend. On Friday night I had a party for Brayden and a few of his friends. Brayden was a spider, and Caleb, Bailey, Ella, Parker, Ryleigh, and Bryn all came. They ate pizza, played in the duck pond, colored pictures, decorated cupcakes, and played in the garage with all the toys.

Saturday Drew's parents came down and we went trick or treating. Brayden was content running around the block and not going up to anyones door. When he did go to the door he wanted to stay and play on the patio furniture. He walked around most of the time, and then got pushed around the last block in his car.

Brayden started his swim lessons this week at the Pavilion. He was too cute. The other kids were all older than him, mostly two and three, but he hung right with them. He worked on jumping in, blowing bubbles, reaching, and kicking. He loves the water and enjoyed the play time.

It has been forever!

So with teaching full time in a split class, being pregnant, having a toddler, and taking a grad class, I have WAY slacked on the blogging. Let me catch up.

Brayden just had a seriously scary episode this week while on fall break. He woke up one morning and wouldn't get up- after lots of tests they concluded he had a seizure from dehydration. SCARY! Other than this crazy scary incident- he is doing great. He is almost 16 months old. He is running everywhere. He talks all the time. His words are: Pa, Mom, Da, hot, up, basketball, Nanna, Gee (Garrett), ball, shoe, e-i-e-i-o, b-i-b-l-e, no. He can point to anyone in the family if you ask him where someone is. He still doesn't sleep fantastic at night. He is transitioning from taking two naps to one- sometimes he takes two great ones and other times not. He likes to yell no and throw tantrums when something doesn't go his way. He also likes to love and hug and snuggle. What a sweet boy. He loves the outside.

We had a check-up for Baby Beckett #2 a few weeks ago. The doctor moved my due date up because the baby is measuring big so we are now at April 16th and 13 weeks pregnant. I have been majorly sick this time as well, and really tired. The medicine has been ineffective at times, so I am still below weight, but am actively trying to gain. We find out I think around the end of November if Brayden will have a brother or sister.

Drew and I are doing well. I am in grad school, and he is doing fantastic as his new job as a manager at the Health Department. He tries hard to help out and undestand how tired I am, and he is great with Brayden.

I will try to post more often. Promise. :)

And now baby makes 4!

Well as you all know with my open honesty, Drew and I were planning on growing our family in about a year, but we were so excited to find out last week that we are PREGNANT! Brayden will be a big brother, and our due date is April 23, 2010. Brayden will be 22 months old, I will not go back to work till August, and we are beginning the planning! I have had lots of people question me and wonder if I was crazy, and I take offense to that. Yes it was a little sooner than expected, but I see this baby as a blessing from God, and we are all going to greatly benefit from our new addition! We are looking into several options, possibly moving if we can sell our house, and other things...so keep us in your prayers! We will be finding out what this baby is, and from what I can calculate that would be around the first of December. I have been tired and nauseous but no throwing up yet! Now I am five weeks, and last time it hit at six. I am so praying for a vomit free pregnancy!

Here we go!

Play dates, Chicago, friends visit

Well I finished my second grad class this past week! So 8 more to go! I also have some big news for Drew....he got a new job! His boss was retiring, and he was a little bummed when he heard this, because he had only been at this job about 10 months, and was hoping she would wait another year or two so he would have more experience. But he decided to interview anyway. He beat out about 8 others who were older and had lots more experience. We were so pleasantly surprised that he got the job! He starts tomorrow as the team leader of the Lexington Health Department!

Drew's sister, Audra, is in law school (getting ready to start her third year) and she has spent the summer interning at JAG in Chicago. Last weekend Drew and I went with his parents to Chicago to visit and sight see. Brayden stayed with Krisi and my mom and dad for two nights. This was the longest I had ever been away from him, but I knew he would be ok. The trip was great! It was jam packed, and we went to a Chicago deep dish pizza place, rode the train into town (I admire how Audra lives in the big city, it makes me nervous), walked around, did a bus tour, visited Navy Pier, and went to a Cubs game. This was my first trip to Chicago, and I wante dmore time to see it all, but was so ready to see my baby! Brayden did really well, and loved being spoiled by his favorites. I enjoyed Chicago, but it made me appreciate living in Georgetown.

This past week we went back to the Children's Museum with Brooke, Ella, Sarah, and Ivy. IT was so cute to see the kids play together, and they all had so much fun. It was also a good chance to get to see my friends before school starts.

This weekend we got to visit with Lynsie Robert and Emmie. They came in from Owensboro. I couldn't get over how chubby and happy Emmie Kate was! It made me miss Brayden at that age, and really verified how much I do want another baby in the future. Friday night we ate at Giovanni's pizza, Saturday went to the water park (which they loved) and then the park that night. I wish they lived closer, because we always enjoy our time together.

I start back to work TOMORROW! :( It hasn't really hit me yet! We have training eveyr day but Wednesday, and then the kids start next Monday.....I have LOVED my summer home.

Updates with Brayden:
*Lots of trouble sleeping due to molars coming in
*literally climbs in your lap with the same two books over and over (Opposite book and counting book)

Rounding Out the Summer

So I am extremely sad that my summer break is quickly coming to a close. I have VERY much enjoyed it though!

We have spent some time in Sadieville playing with Brooke and Ella. Brayden loves going over to their house, and playing with all of Ella's toys. We walked down to the park in Sadieville, and they are too cute running all over the equipment.

Yesterday my mom, my grandma and I took Brayden to the LExington Children's Musuem. I was a little nervous, because I didn't know if it would have anything he would be real into, but he loved it!! I am so sad I didn't bring my camera in, but we will definitely go back! He enjoyed the music area where he walked on a Big size keyboard, loved the bubble room, and there was even an area for kids under three with a water table and fountain, a train station, and a little tree house for them to climb in and slide down. Brayden does think he is big though, and participated in many of the other big kids stuff too. It was a great experience!

Brayden is quickly turning into a toddler.

His biggest changes:

*He runs in place when he gets excited or mad...hilarious!
*Loves playing peekaboo with himself...lcovering his face up
*He has become SOOO loveable! He constantly gives hugs, and blows kisses. He loves to love other kids, and babies in his books.
*He now LOVES his books...turnig the pages and pointing.
*He explores our street by walking up on porches adn seeing what each person has on their porch.

Funny Brayden story of how he is growing up...
He constantly wants to get in the dog food, and he was trying one night and we looked at him and yelled, "NO!" He pointed his little chubby finger and us and yelled back, "DOH!!" So not funny that he was being bad, but we turned our heads and laughed!

Family News!

Well our family had a big weekend! Friday we went to Jessamine County to see Sarah, Greg, and Ivy's new house! It was so nice, and the babies enjoyed playing. We ate pizza, and enjoyed their backyard. It is a little far, but I think we can manage some get togethers at the mall which is the mid-way point.
Megan, my middle sister, got engaged on Friday night! We are so excited. Her and Garrett plan to get married next May, and Brayden will be the ring bearer!
We are still having issues with church and not knowing what to do. Brayden naps in between both services so that he is unable to go to either. Even if we did work our nap time, he refuses to stay in the nursery longer than 10 minutes without either one of us. So...we have been taking turns going to church while the other stays home with B while he naps. I hate this, but not much else we can do!
Monday my mom and I took Brayden to the mall to get some new shoes. This is really the first time I have worried with nice shoes, because he just has really started walking well. This was actually the first time I had taken Brayden to the mall since he was a newborn, because it never really worked with naps and it is so not close to our house. Now that he has more time in between, we made the trip. He loved eating at the food court and staring at all the other people. He did pretty well in the shoe store, and got a pair of tennis shoes and brown shoes for the fall. Then he went and played in the play area. It was alittle difficult at first, because it doesn't have a gate, so he kept wanting to run out into the mall area. ONce he got the hang of it he was running and climbing and making friends. He is definitely a ladies man!
Tuesday Drew was off work, and we went to Southland pool. It was SO nice for him. There was a whole baby area with wheels and fountains and slides, and even a playground. He did pretty well, but is teething with his molars so a little fussy.
Today we went to play with Jenny and Alexis. Brayden loves going to their house and playing in her play room. He especially loves the keyboard she has!
My class is going pretty well- working on a research paper. Say a prayer for Drew- he has a big interview this week. His boss retired and he is getting an interview for the position. It is highly unlikely he would get it, but he is definitely going to try!

Family Update

Well I have so loved having the summer to spend with my sweet baby. June we did a lot of traveling, and it has been nice to have some time at home.
Brayden and I have had fun meeting up with friends to play with. We have spent time with Brooke and Ella eating and playing. We have been hanging out with Jennifer Wright (a girl I teach with) and her two year old Parker. We met Andrea today for lunch, and are going to visit Sarah and Greg and Ivy on Friday.
Monday Drew and I went out for his birthday. He turned 26! We went to eat at Old CHicago and it was yummy! Greg and Laurel and Megan and Garrett met us there.
In a few weeks Drew and I are heading for the weekend to Chicago where Drew's sister Audra is working for the summer. We are going with his parents, to visit, sight see, and go to a Cubs game. I am super excited because I have never been but also nervous about leaving my boy. He has only spent one night away from us!

Updates with Drew:
*Still working at Lexington Health Department
*Playing softball two nights a week

Updates with me:
*Started a 4 week grad class, and writing papers for that
*Think I am NOW teaching a 1/2 split class next year

Updates with Brayden:
He is developing SO MUCH!!
*He has gotten so much personality! When he gets excited he lets out this really loud belly laugh that sounds like an old man. It cracks me up. He belly laughs when he is served his meals, when we go to the park, run through the sprinkler, when Drew pulls up after being at work, and when he gets to watch his video.
*He is running everywhere. It is crazy to me that he just started walking well not too long ago, and now he is all over the place!
*Still takes two naps a day...usually around 10 and 2.
*Still wakes up in the night- usually five times a week. We can normally get hiim back to sleep pretty easily.

Myrtle Beach

(Pics to come later)

So this year we went with Blake and Lauren and Caleb to Myrtle Beach for a week!

The guys drove down with all the stuff, and Lauren and I flew with the boys. The flight down was a little hectic, with having to wait in security for an hour, and getting to our gate five minutes before the plane left. (See bottom for things I learned about flying with a toddler.) We made it safe to Myrtle Beach.

We stayed in a condo complex that was SUPER nice. It was called Ocean Keyes, and it had several buildings, five pools with baby pools and hottubs. We were a five minute walk to the beach, and a ten minute walk to a park with a toddler playground. Lauren and Blake took the big room and Caleb slept in his packnplay in the walk in closet. (I know it sounds terrible but he slept great in there! :) Drew and I had our own room, and Brayden was in his pack n play in the kid room. There was a big kitchen, living room, and a screened in porch.

The boys had gone grocery shopping, and we ate all but three of our dinners in the condo. This saved us a ton of money, and hassle without having to worry about the boys in a restaurant.

We got into a routine daily. We would go to the beach in the morning. Brayden liked the sand a little. The ocean he HATED. He would walk up to it, and the minute the waves would take the sand from under his feet he would scream. So then when we go to the beach he would immediately start running towards the street. Since we traveled so far to come to the beach we did go several times, but it never lasted long! I got to swim in it one day and it was so nice!

We would then have nap time, and lunch and then head to the pool. The pool was SO nice as well. It was warm, almost too warm! The boys went between the baby pool and the big pool in their floats. Then it was another nap, and we would wait and have dinner.

Three nights we went out to dinner. This was the only time we ate out! We went to Dick's Last Resort which is hilarious! They put hats on you with crude sayings, and throw stuff at you and are generally rude to where it is funny. The boys enjoyed it because it was loud. We went to a Brick Oven Pizza place one night that was yummy, and to a Buffet. (I am totally not a buffet fan, but that is what the Drew and Blake wanted so we went.) Brayden actually loved it because he could have as much as he wanted!

We usually went to the park after dinner for the boys to play. This park was kind of hidden, but I was asking around for a playground, and someone told me about the park. It had a walking trail, pond, and a toddler playground. It had teeter totters for babies, slides, swings, tubes, trains, airplanes. They LOVED it. It was something easy and fun for the boys to do.

Then the boys would go to bed, and we would stay up playing cards and games on the porch. We got the game Partini and I recommend it to anyone looking for a fun new game!

One afternoon Lauren and I went shopping at the outlets, and the boys went the next day. We went to Barefoot Landing one night (which has restaurants, shops, and boardwalks) and the boys rode the carousel and walked around there.

Caleb and Brayden were hilarious together. There were definitely hard times when Caleb would scream for fun which would make Brayden scream and cry and they would do it over and over usually in the car. Caleb is also used to older kids taking toys from him so he took advantage of being around a younger baby and took anything Brayden had. Brayden did pretty well, and it was a good learning experience for all! By the third day they realized that they could be friends, and enjoyed running in the condo together. Caleb would hide in the blinds, and Brayden would find him and they thought this was hilarious. They went out of the room and it got quiet, and I found them splashing in the toliet. They generally loved running from room to room together and yelling baby talk at one another. It was so sweet to see our boys play and it made me sad to see how big they are getting.

The last day we went to the airport and Blake and Drew dropped us off. After waiting for our flight we learn that it has been cancelled. I was a stress ball to begin with and it sent me over the edge, I was crying and Brayden was crying. After waiting in a huge line we go back to the ticket line and they tell us that they booked us for a flight the next night. All of our stuff was in the car with the boys on their way home so I told them this was impossible. They send us in a van taxi two hours to Charleston and fly us home from there. Thankfully being upset got us home that night! Brayden went all day with about a 20 minute nap, and we made it home!

Besides the airport experience, we had a wonderful trip! It is so great to have friends to spend time with, and time with Drew and Brayden all together.

Things I learned on this trip:
1. Flying is not single parent friendly- nearly impossible
*I had to pack a survival backpack with bottles and toys and books, have Brayden in his stroller. They make you take the child out of the stroller and put it up for security. They pull you aside and test all of your juice.
*The survival bag kept getting taken away from me by flight attendants because they said you couldn't have anything at your feet-which defeated its' purpose.
*One seat isn't big enough for the two of you. Last year Brayden was 8 weeks old when I flew, and he slept on me. This year he was wanting to climb all over me and my poor neighbors.
*MOST people are very understanding and nice. Some are not.
*Lines are ridiculous. crazy.
2. Putting two one year olds together in the back seat of the car side by side might seem cute, but not a good idea
3. Having good friends on a trip makes it more fun!

Brayden is ONE!

We had Brayden's birthday party on Saturday! We had it at my parents' house, and had about 50 friends and family that came. There was a play area for the babies in the yard with toys and pools. Ivy and Ella and a few cousins were too cute playing. Brayden wore his birthday outfit, which thankfully fit, and was adorable.
We ate hotdogs and tons of sides, and Brayden loved it. He opened his presents, while sitting on top of his new car. (Krisi gave it to him.) He LOVED the car, and had to be wheeled around. Thank you Brooke and others for pushing him around! With his cake (which was made by Drew's aunt) he was very dainty and only had a few bites before pushing it away. What a fun day!

Today he went to the doctor for his 12 month checkup.
Weight- 24 lbs
Height-29 inches
*one finger prick + 2 shots= screaming
We will work on when we get back from the beach getting off the bottle. (He only takes one a day)
He is RUNNING now!
Loves water (playing in it), food (fruit, hotdogs, grilled cheese), music, dancing, books
Has a MEAN temper when he gets frustrated
So loving

Gatlinburg

Brayden and I returned today from Gatlinburg. We went with my parents and sisters. We stayed in a cabin up in Pigeon Forge.

Brayden had some trouble adjusting to his new place to sleep. It took a while for him not to be scared of sleeping in the cabin. He had a ball though playing in the hot tub, swimming in the baby pool, and playing on the playground. My dad and sisters and I went horseback riding one morning. That was fun! We had to keep the horses on the trail, and it was a beautiful ride through the mountains. My family went to some shows at night, and I stayed back with Brayden. He is not quite ready to sit through a show!

It was such great quality time to spend with my family. We joked that a lot of the things we did could have been done in Georgetown, but we knew that it was just taking the time to do them.

We were supposed to stay another day, but my great grandmother "Gran" passed away and we had visitation and funeral tonight and tomorrow. It is always sad to lose a family member, but she was 96 years old and lived a long life! She passed in her sleep and is now in heaven with her husband.

Drew left for Phoenix yesterday for work. He will be home late Friday night. It has been so hard not having him around. I can't wait to see him again!

End of School year and such

So I have three days of school left! (Plus three more without students) This has been a great school year, and I have enjoyed my class. I have had so many people ask if I am ready for the summer, but actually I have truly enjoyed this year and now I don't mind going to work. It is harder for me to go to work when it is the middle of winter and dark and cold outside. Don't get me wrong I enjoy my summers, but I love my class!
Sunday Brayden and I leave for Gatlinburg with my family for five days. Drew will be going to Phoenix for work on Tuesday. Then when we get back it will be time for Brayden's birthday party!
I also look forward to getting together with friends this summer. I feel like I haven't been able to see friends a lot lately, and it has been hard!
We had a good weekend. Friday night we went to a lady I teach with's retirement dinner. Brayden ate well and then walked around and greeted everyone at their seats. Saturday we went to Trevor (Krisi's son) birthday party at Tumble Zone. It was so cool! They had trampolines, a foam pit, spring floors, basketball goals, and all kinds of mats. There was also a baby area with TONS of baby toys. (The lady who owns the place has three little girls which she has raised there!) So Brayden had a ball. After Brayden went to bed Jessica and her friend came over and played some games.

Great Weekend!

This was such a great long weekend! I wrote about Friday night out with Drew, and that was fun.
Saturday Blake, Lauren, and Caleb came down from Ohio to visit. Caleb is five months older than Brayden, and they are about the same size now. The boys splashed in Brayden's baby pool Saturday afternoon, and then we cooked out. Caleb now runs everywhere, and Brayden tottles behind him or crawls behind him. After the boys went to bed we all played games. (We love games!)
Since the boys are on opposite nap schedules we didn't go to church on Sunday. We had lunch at Cici's. They did pretty well, but definitely wanted to get down and play. Which that is sanitary in a public restaurant. :) After naps we headed over to my uncle's pool and we enjoyed swimming. After the boys went to bed we taught ourselves the card game Rook, and had a lot of fun playing that until the wee hours.
In the morning the Cripes packed up and left. It was so great to spend time with them. I wish we lived closer!
In the afternoon we went to a Memorial Day cookout at Kelly and Todd's in our Sunday school class. We played corn hole, and Brayden crawled around outside. Since it is impossible for us to make sunday school, it was great to see everyone again.
Back in school now with 6 days left after today!

Update!

It has been a little while since I have posted! Well I finished up my first grad class on Thursday! So exciting! I am taking another one in July.

I have seven more days of school!

Drew and I went out last night for our anniversary. (A little early but we are going out of town and have work things on the weeks coming up.) We went to the Melting Pot (which was so cool and yummy!) and then to see a movie. Brayden stayed the night with my mom and dad. It was the first time he stayed somewhere without me. I was nervous, but he did really well. The air went out upstairs at their house where the crib is, so he slept in a teeny pack and play I had left there. (Literally this is a mini pack and play) He was hanging out of it, but slept all night long!

11 months old!!

Brayden is eleven months old today! It is hard to believe that this time last year, I was about to pop! Now here he is a beautiful little boy!

My favorite things about Brayden right now:
*He holds my hands when I give him his bedtime bottle.
*When I have been gone in the evening from grad class and come in, he gives me kisses.
*He is so curious and into everything. He loves getting dirty and exploring!
*When he goes to bed at night he lays his head down on your shoulder until you carry him to bed.
*He loves meal time, and always enjoys his food.
*He cackles when he is happy. Best sound in the world.

Milestones:

Mother's Day

I had a great first Mother's Day today! I had Brayden up and dressed for church, and he laid down for his first nap and slept through the entire thing! So when he woke up we had lunch and enjoyed family time together. We went and visited my Grandma today, and he had a ball playing around their house.

For dinner we went to my parent's house and had a yummy dinner.
Drew had gotten me a solitaire diamond necklace!! So pretty! And Brayden's chubby little handprint which is priceless. Thank you Drew!

To my mom:
I love you for always being there for me. I know we have had our ups and downs in the past, but you have been my rock these past few years. The sisters and I couldn't ask for a better mom!

To my sweet baby Brayden:
You have forever changed my world for the better. You were so fun today with your sweet smile and infectious laugh. I thank God for blessing me with my sweet little boy.

Juggling it All

Well I have successfully completed half of my first graduate class. It has actually been a good class with applicable technology knowledge for the classroom! I was nervous about starting my graduate work while working and having Brayden. The two nights a week I have class, Drew keeps him, and it has gone really well. Only two more weeks left....

It is crazy time at school with all of the end of the year tests, and parent conferences I am squeezing in. I have such a good class though, and am a little sad to let them go here in a few weeks.

Brayden is such a happy boy these days. He is walking pretty well now. His main mode of transportation is still crawling, but he can walk across our living room. He loves getting into things that are not toys- especially the kitchen cabinets and heaven help us if he finds a toliet lid up....we think it is a pool! He is jabbering constantly and says "htt" for hot, "mmmm" for moo cow "gggg" for dog mama, dada, baby, nana, ppppp (He really likes consonants!)

Drew and I went ahead and got the kitchen for Brayden's birthday. I am excited! And for all of my skeptics there was actually a little boy on the box it came in! We are now just looking for some play food to put in the kitchen.

Four weeks of school, two weeks of class...I can handle this!

Fun Weekend and some thoughts

Friday night was my mom's birthday so we headed to my parent's house for dinner with them. We grilled out steaks and it was yummy!

Saturday night Sarah, Greg, and Ivy came to visit. We ate pizza, and the babies played. (I call them babies but they are quickly growing up!) Ivy wasn't used to Brayden toddling around, and it took her a little while to warm up. Once she did they had a ball. It was so nice to get to hang out and talk.

Sunday we went to church and Brayden lasted twenty mins in the nursery before I had to go in there with him. The workers said he did so well until he realized he didn't know anyone in there. He screamed like a maniac. Once I was in there he calmed down and ate lunch.

I have also been thinking about birthday gifts for Brayden. He loves this play kitchen at Big Lots, and so I have thought that would be a good gift for him. Of course Drew first reacted like he didn't want this for a boy because it was too girly. Things like that don't even cross my mind. It doesn't bother me at all for him to play with any toy even a doll- I don't think a toy "girlies" up a boy. I have heard from a lot of people that they would never get their son a kitchen. Well- say if he wants to play cook- so be it...doesn't make him girly to me. :)

WALKING!!

So yesterday when I picked Brayden up he walked to me!!! Just a few steps, and then he gets so excited he falls down, but he did this over and over and over! :) How exciting!

(My grad class went well last night....didn't like being away but I think I will survive.)

Warm Ohio Weekend!

This past weekend we headed north for our monthly Ohio visit. On Friday we headed up after school and stopped to visit with Blake, Lauren, and Caleb. We ate a yummy dinner and let the boys play for a little while. Caleb is too cute and running around and talking.
We then headed up to Drew's parents house. We had beautful weather Saturday and Sunday and played outside most of the day. Brayden played in his little pool, went on wagon rides and a tractor ride, and visited with family. He didn't want to nap with so much going on so he was exhausted yesterday when we made it back.

New Brayden update:
Brayden is climbing stairs...fun times

More updates on the homefront

As of yesterday, it seems I will be staying in 2nd grade! I am really excited about this. Due to the budget crisis things are really shifted around, and I will be staying.
Also Brayden and myself will be going to Gatlinburg for four days in June with my family to stay in a cabin! So excited! (Drew can't take off work any more. :( )
Brayden is walking! (On his walker toy!) But nevertheless, he is so proud of himself as he pushes that thing across the house. :)

Life in the Beckett World

I know I blog about Brayden most of the time, but I thought I would take take to talk about all of us!

Right now I am finishing up teaching this school year at Northern in second grade. I think I will be moving to fifth grade next year. (We will see!) I am starting my Masters at the end of the month. I am taking a class in May and in July. (wanted to take one in June but didn't work with vacation) Needless to say my May will be hectic with work and class but I am excited to get started....actually more excited to get it done!

Drew is working for the health department as a tobacoo educator. He is playing softball two nights a week and golfs whenever possible!

This summer we are going on vacation in June with Blake, Lauren, and Caleb to Myrtle Beach for a week. In July Drew and I are going to visit his sister Audra in Chicago. (She is working at JAG there for the summer.) We are going to a Cubs game, and staying a night. We are leaving (ahh I'm nervous) Brayden with my sister and she is going to come stay at the house with him. In all our decisions we try to do what is best for Brayden, and although it pains me to leave him (he has never been left over night) it is much better for him to stay at his house then to ride five hours, go to a baseball game in the July heat for hours, and ride five hours back. In June we will also be having Brayden's first birthday party! It will be on his birthday June 13th....crazy!

Back to work tomorrow...only 7 weeks left!

Easter Weekend and 10 months old!!

Well we were able to start some family Easter traditions this weekend. Drew's parents came down on Saturday morning and spent the weekend with us. We hung out, and played with Brayden. They couldn't believe how much he had grown and changed since it had only been a few weeks since they had seen him. Saturday night all of us went over to my parent's house for an Easter dinner. It was nice to get the two families together, and talk. Brayden especially loved the dinner of ham, mashed potatoes, corn, rolls, and cake. We then had an Easter egg hunt with Brayden, Ryleigh, and Bryn (my uncles little girls who are 2 1/2 and 1.) They were so funny running to the eggs. Brayden didn't really know what was going on, but that's ok! :) He receieved and Easter basket from each set of grandparents as well!
Easter morning Brayden had a basket from the Easter Bunny! He had bubbles, a glove and ball, and a book. He didn't really care too much about it but we got some cute pictures! Then Drew, Brayden, Roxane and myself headed to church. (Don was waiting on the dish guy to come install our new satellite dish!) Brayden was too cute in his chaps green plaid button down and navy pants with brown sandels. I kept him in the service with me for as long as possible (since he loves the nursery ) and he listened to the music and ate some lunch in the service. I actually made it through most of the service before I took him to the nursery to play. He loved playing with the other babies!
Our Easter was different this year without all the running around to different families, but it was nice to relax with our own!

Brayden is 10 months old today! I can't believe it...he is changing now SO FAST!
New developments:
*LOVES to eat- he can spend an hour and a half eating meals- he really enjoys his food now- mini pancakes for breakfast, pasta, cheese, lunch meat, green beans, Crackel Barrel dumplins , his juice, bread, yogurt bites
* Is SOO mobile- crawls full speed, pulls up on everything, loves anything that is not a toy, loves to bang- the dryer, the top of the toliet seat, the side of the tub (maybe he is a drummer)
*Is very vocal- saying Mama, Dada, yum yum, ppppp, nananana
*waves bye-bye, gives high fives
*loves Baby Einstein videos- stares intently and gets ticked if you turn him away from them or turn it off before it is over
*has quite a temper when he does something he doesn't like- changing his clothes, diaper, cleaning his face
*weighs 22 pounds and is ~29 inches tall
*still loves paci for comfort at times
*loves water and swimming
*loves being outside
*his stranger anxiety is better!
*has two teeth with 4 more coming in on top!
*he still takes two naps sometimes a third little one in the evening
*sleeps 9-7:45 unless I have to wake him up for school

I can't believe how big he is getting!

Oprah insight

I watched Oprah yesterday (because Ellen was a re-run) and it was all about being a mommy. They discussed all kinds of things we deal with as mommies- for example the constant debate of working or staying at home, relations with your husband after kids, feelings of regret or guilt that we put on ourselves as moms, etc.
It was very insightful and true. Basically all of us have doubts and worries when it comes to being a mom and a wife. We worry about fufilling our husband- they need relations to communicate and we need to communicate to have relations and this gets hard after having a baby. We compare ourselves to others and wonder why we can't work and be a mom while some women have it under control or stay at home and be content. We feel guilty when we take the much needed time for ourself.
This all hit home for me, and it made me feel good that there are so many women stuggling with the same issues. I have always been an open person, but there are definite struggles I have had that have made me wonder if I was the only one.
We are all so different and we are all the best moms we can be to our babies. What works for one mom doesn't work for another. I have seen this played out with my family and friends as well. But be encouraged mommy readers- you are doing a great job and you aren't the only one with struggles!

Monday- *Brayden's dr's visit (see previous post for details)

*Brittany, Maria, and Brayden and I went to lunch at Mancino's, watched Twilight while B napped, and went for a walk and played outside all afternoon. It was so good to see them! We all taught together our first year teaching at PCA and it was so good to catch up.

*Mom had my two year old cousin Ryleigh and they came over and played in the afternoon.

*Drew and I went to dinner at Logan's (it had been over a month!) and to the new Carter's store.

Wednesday- *Brayden and I went to see Drew at work for lunch.

*my mom, Brayden and I went to eat at Crackel Barrel while Drew worked late

Thursday- *Sarah, Ivy and Kayla came over in the morning to play. They brought lunch as well. Ivy was so good and played with toys. Brayden was pretty fussy and wouldn't take a nap. Because this wasn't like him I took him to the dr. in the afternoon. He has an ear infection! Poor baby...so hopefully with the medicine we can get him feeling better.

Friday- *In the morning I took Brayden to the pavilion to swim. He loved splashing in the water and relaxing as I swam with him in the lazy river.

Can't wait till the summer time!!!

Weekend visit to Owensboro and 9 month check-up!

This past weekend Drew Brayden and I traveled to Owensboro to visit Lynsie and Robert and meet sweet Emmie Kate. (Brooke Kermie and Ella also went!) We left Friday after school and made the three hour trip. Ten minutes into the trip Brayden sneezed while eating a bottle and vomited the whole thing up all over the car! Other than that he did pretty well! (Megan kept Mr. Wiggles so no dog drama!) We got to Lynsie's parents' house to unload our stuff. (We decided to stay there to open some more room at their house.) Drew stayed in for the evening because he wasn't feeling well and Brayden and myself headed over to Lynsie's house.
It was the first time I had seen their house and it is so nice! It was also the first time I got to meet sweet Emmie. She has a head full of black hair and is so sweet and little. We hung out for a while and headed back to Dale and Cathy's for bed. They actually have a crib for Emmie so we were able to put Brayden in there. He did so well staying the crib! He slept all night and then we headed back to Lynsie's to hang out.
Saturday we went to a fun Japanese restaurant for lunch and cooked out that night. We had to hurry and cook out before the tornado came through. Thankfully it wasn't close to us! We also attempted to go on a walk. Emmie was of course great in her stroller all bundled up. Ella was too cute and wanted to get out and walk and pose for pics, and then Brayden thought he needed to get out and be held on the walk. Brayden and Ella played well together on the piano, around the house, and in the tub. I'm sure Emmie will join in when she gets bigger!
Sunday we came and visited again before we headed back to Georgetown. I wish we had more time to spend with them, and they weren't so far away!

9 month check-up
Today we saw the doctor for Brayden's nine month check-up.
Weight- 22 pounds 55% (this is slowing down!)
Height- 28 1/2 inches 65%
Head- 80%

She said he looks great and is doing well! He didn't have to have shots today thank goodness, and he goes back at 12 months!

Visit with Ella, and Ohio visit

Thursday after school Brooke and Ella came over. Ella was so good playing with Brayden's toys while he napped. When he woke up they were so interested in one another. They both share a love for pacis and even switched pacis! We then went to Fat Cat's and met Sejla. THey loved eating all the food and making a mess. It was so good to eat with friends! Sejla entertained Brayden at the end so I could eat.

Friday we headed to Ohio to visit Drew's parents. (We did not take WIggles- he stayed with my sister Megan.) Brayden did so well on the 2 hour drive up. He ate a lot, played with his toys, jabbered a ton, and played with my magazines. When we got there we went to Max and Erma's that night and he bounced in his seat as he ate. He was so excited in the new surrounding that he stayed up till ten laughing and playing.

Saturday we hung out at Drew's parents' house. Greg and Laurel had spent the night on Friday because they went to the Morehead game in Dayton- so we hung out with them in the morning. Brayden took a tractor ride with Grandpa and LOVED it! He rode for about 45 minutes grabbing the steering wheel. Saturday night Blake, Lauren, and Caleb came to visit. The boys ate dinner, went for stroller rides, and played in the flooor. They both had some of an oatmeal cookie and popsicle!

Brayden woke up around 5 really fussing- I think he is teething some more...so I had to hold him the last few hours of sleep.

Sunday we went to Drew's parents' church and the whole service was music. Brayden did well for about twenty minutes just looking around and taking it all in. We then took him and fed him. We headed home after church and were glad to rest!

Brayden is full fledged pulling up, jabbering up a storm, and usually in a great mood!

Tantrums

So at the age of nine months Brayden throws tantrums with the best of them. He throws his head back, and just starts wailing. SOmetimes it is while we are dressing him, sometimes when we direct him away from trouble he is entering. I knew this was going to happen- I just didn't expect it so soon!
Yesterday we soaked up the gorgeous weather and headed to the park. We were on the swings and strolled around. It was nice to spend time together outside!

Weekend Fun with Family and Friends!

Friday night we went to visit Sarah, Greg, Ivy and Kayla and Nick. It was so good to see them. It had been a while! We ate pizza, and the kids played with Ivy's toys. Ivy was very generous and let us use her high chair and play with her stuff. I was so impressed with how smart she is- she told us she was one years old, and counted her food. She was interested in Brayden's finger foods and asked to please have some of them. Brayden loved Ivy's books and they liked giving eachother kisses. He also loved the Elmo live that was talking to him! He just kept staring at him. It was good to see them- we always have so much to talk about!

Saturday Drew's parents came to visit. We went to lunch and Brayden showed them how he loves to eat all kinds of things now. When we got back to the house he loved showing off how to crawl and move all over the place. He loves spending time with his grandparents!

Today Drew and I worked the nursery at church so Brayden actually made it in there today. He didn't like it when I went to help another baby and screamed until I picked him up. This afternoon Jenny Josh and Alexis came to visit! We had missed Alexis' birthday party because it was the same day as Whitney's wedding. (Alexis is now 3!) So we gave her a gift and hung out. It had been way too long since we had seen them as well.

I got some exciting news this morning that Lynsie and Robert had Emmie Kate at 4:40 this morning. She is a healthy little girl weighing 6 lbs 10 ounces and 19 inches long. She has a head full of dark hair. I am so happy for them, and wish I could be there to hold her! We are planning on visiting on spring break.

Not looking too forward to going back to the week but only two weeks and then spring break!

9 months old

Brayden is nine months old today! It is so unreal how fast it has gone. Here are some updates!

Physical- thick light brown hair, big hazelish eyes (still changing color), ~22 pounds (goes to the doctor in two weeks), little feet, chubby thighs and arms!

Eat: bottles, fruit baby food, real green beans, crackers, cheese off pizza

Sleep: USUALLY goes to bed at 9 p.m. and wakes around 7...still takes two naps a day and sometimes takes a third cat nap...about 20 mins

Play: loves exploring by crawling around everyone, loves his music table to pull up on, likes playing with Moomy and Daddy, loves Trent at the babysitter

Separation development- strong as ever, won't stay in church nursery, won't go to anyone who he doesn't know really well, still cries for us even if it is someone he knows, new situations are tough

Baby Kaden

Well yesterday Todd and Kelly from our sunday school class had their baby girl Kaden Olivia. Drew, Brayden and myself went to Central Baptist to see them. Looking at her through the nursery window I was overwhelmed with emotion. I couldn't help but cry looking at her, and seeing what a blessing it really is. She had a sweet purple bow in her hair and chubby cheeks! It is just so amazing to see the pregancy, the baby, and then look nine months later at Brayden and see who they grow into.

Just today Brayden started really crying when I dropped him off this morning. This was the first time I had a really hard time at work and thought about him a lot of the day. I try to keep the mindset that I have a great job to be a mom, and spend so much time with him. And of course he was fine about two minutes after I left.

Time is flying, and it really showed it when we saw Kaden yesterday. Congrats Kelly and Todd!

Warm Weekend!

Well we had a great weekend of family, friends, and warm weather! Friday Drew was off of work, and stayed home with Brayden. It is nice when he can do this! We went for a long walk- Brayden loves being outside! That evening we went to Kohls to get a few outfits for the growing boy. He was at the end of his 6-9 month clothes and all of his summer stuff is 12 months, and it isn't quite warm enough for that yet. So we got some 9 month clothes for him. Thankfully Kohls always has wonderful sales. Kelly and Todd came to visit Friday night as well. They are due with their little girl- Kaden any day now! We ate pizza and played with Brayden, and it was nice to see them!

Saturday we woke up and immediately went for a walk after breakfast because the weather was so nice. I went to Whitney's wedding that afternoon, and it went well. She was beautiful, and she had a great day. Drew brought Brayden to the reception, and he danced with me. :) Then that night Greg and Laurel came to visit. We went for another walk, and went to eat at Beef O-Brady's. Brayden loved all the tvs in there and was very entertained. Then we came back, put him to bed and played Family Feud. The girls won twice!

Sunday we wanted to go to church but babies really don't understand the time change memo, so he was napping during church time! So we stayed outside a lot of the day again! There was Cheri's birthday in Ohio (Drew's cousin) yesterday but Drew had bible study so we didn't go. I wish they were closer so it wouldn't be so hard!

Brayden is crawling EVERYWHERE! We had to take the bumper off his crib because he was standing on it. And he has been throwing his pacis out of his crib. He sometimes has quite the temper! He loves being outside- here's hoping for lots of warm weather!

Fun Family Time

Well we had a fun-filled weekend. Friday Drew was off work, and got to stay home with Brayden. He brought him to school to eat lunch with me! I was so excited to see my two favs and my students loved seeing him as well.

Friday night was Whitney's bridal shower and Brayden went with me. Whitney seemed so excited, and Brayden did really well. He seems to like young girls (go figure) and liked crawling around the floor. Drew had a poker night here while we were at the shower.

Saturday we went to lunch at Applebees- the three of us- because we had a gift card! Brayden has a new fascination with crackers and was content eating crackers the majority of the time. I forgot his sippy so he drank some apple juice through the end of a straw. Such a big boy.

Saturday night Drew and I went and saw an early 5:00 movie, Taken, while Brayden stayed with my mom and dad. It was a good movie, intense, and Brayden did well.

Today Drew had to work a health fair, and I took Brayden to church with the help of Megan. We tried the church nursery...he lasted 8 minutes!

Updates with Brayden:
* He is full fledged crawling! We cannot change a diaper, change clothes, or turn around without him crawling away.
*He is trying different table foods. Loves crackers, green beans, bread.
*Jabbers, jabbers, jabbers
*He is pulling up on everything- his crib, his toys, you name it.
*Loves playing games with me and Drew. Peekaboo, tickling, laughing.

**Correction

So in my last post I said he slept till 9...which he did, but that was after screaming several hours from teething in the night. So I love him, but the sleep is still working itself out!

Ohio Grandparents visit

So this weekend Drew, myself, Brayden, and Wiggles packed up and headed to visit the Ohio grandparents for the weekend. Friday after school we hopped in the car and off we went! Once we hit downtown Cincinatti we hit some heavy traffic. Wiggles started acting funny and before we knew it he was pooping in the back seat! We yelled at him and then he went to the front seat to finish pooping! I looked over and Brayden was laughing and when I bent over I smelled him as well. He had pooped through his sweats and onto the car seat! We were no where near Drew's parents house yet and had no idea what to do. While we are being totally disgusted WIggles throws up in the floor. It was so gross. Thankfully we were near Blake and Lauren's hosue and called them but they weren't home. They said they had a key out so we were able to get in and use the cleaning supplies, a hose, and baby stuff to get the grossness under control.

When we finally made it to their house after three hours (normally it is a two hour trip) we had some pizza and hung out. Brayden was so happy and played in the floor. He showed off his laughing, jabbering, and semi-crawling. Saturday night we went to a spagetti dinner at a church where a lot of his family goes. Brayden was very overwhelmed with all the people. Once he screamed at everyone who came up to him he finally calmed down and enjoyed the music.

He actually slept in till 9 each day and Drew and I enjoyed the rest! His nights have been restless with teething. We headed home Sunday after lunch. Brayden had a good time and it is always good to visit!

Doctor's visit

Yesterday afternoon I took Brayden to the doctor, to check on a few things.
1. He thinks his belly button is dry skin and got a cream for that.
2. Couldn't find anything wrong with his ears, throat or stomach so he narrrowed it down to teething and gave us a gel for his gums.

Well he still woke up last night and screamed for an hour but once it was time for more gel he did calm down and go to sleep. I am hoping that this will get better soon!

Sleep is for the birds

So the last few nights (I've lost count) Brayden has started that lovely habit of screaming in the night. Not for a minute, but he will scream for an hour. We give him a bottle, still screams, gas drops, oragel, still screams. Last night from 11-1 and again at 4. He is fine during the day, but these hours in the night are trechorous. Needless to say we are exhausted. I am taking him to the doctor today because he has had a red belly button for a while (weird) and we are going to see if there is anything else. We'll see!

Valentine's Weekend & 8 months old!!

Well Friday Drew and I went to dinner while Brayden went to Nanna and Papaw's for a little while. It was nice to get out.

Saturday we stayed at home, and tried to go to Trevor's championship basketball game. (Trevor is Krisi, the babysitter's, son. ) We got there and as soon as the music and buzzers and whistles started going off Brayden was SCREAMING! He was so scared of all the loud noises. As soon as I would calm him down- he would rev right up again when another noise would happen. So we stayed ten minutes and then went home.

After his nap Drew went to the Pavillion to play basketball, and Megan, Brayden and I went there to swim! Brayden hadn't been swimming since he was 8 weeks old in Hilton Head, so needless to say this was a new experience. Thankfully the water was warm, and he Loved it! There was a whirl pool that I would swim around and he would lean back against me and cross his chubby feet all relaxed. We swam for about forty minutes, and then went and he ate dinner while watching Drew play ball.

Friday the 13th, Brayden was 8 months old! It is so hard to believe! here are some updates:
**Weight- ~23 pounds
**Fav. food- anything with bananas, french fries, and wagon wheels
**Fav. book- "My Little Love Bug"
**Crawling??- Well sort of - butt up in the air on his tip toes and then kind of fall, not really full-fledged crawling yet
**Fav. toy- Jerry the Giraffe, his blocks, the sing and play stage
**Jabbering all the time- Mamama, Daddadada, Babababa
**flaps arms when excited like he is going to take off into flight! :)
**waving- not sure he knows what he is doing but is waving :)

Weekend

Well we had a good weekend in the Beckett house. Friday I actually had to go back to work, and Brayden went to Krisi's so my mom could make up some of her snow days. Drew only had to work till noon, so he picked him up that day. Drew went to Dave ( a guy from Sunday school's) birthday party. It was a poker night. So Brayden and I went to eat at Mancino's with Brooke and Ella. Brayden and Ella were too cute- they sat side by side in high chairs. Then we walked over to Big Lots were they sat in the carts and each got a toy. (Ella a fire truck, and Brayden a cell phone.) It was good to spend the night with another mommy.

Saturday was a nice day to relax. Brayden had fun at home, and I went and saw the movie "He's Just Not That Into You" with Megan in the afternoon. That night we went on a double date with Megan and a friend, and played games here at the house. Brayden played in the floor the whole time.

Sunday was church- and we tried the nursery again. tried. I dropped him off, and I hadn't made it out of the doors before he was screaming. So I spent the rest of the time with him. We will keep trying. :) After a nap Brayden and myself headed to Sadieville to visit with Brooke, Ella, Andrea, and Amber. It had been SO long since all of us had gotten together- Amber had never met the babies! We went for a long walk through Sadieville- it was so nice outside.

Now I have started back to work this week and am looking forward to the afternoons to see the little man!

Boy clothes

So I have been on a hunt these last few days. Brayden is 7 3/4 months old, and grew out of his 6/9 month pjs. So I needed warm pjs for the rest of the cold months. They really don't make clothes bigger than 6/9 (occasionally I found 9 months) but was looking for 12 month. Well it was ridicullous. The girl sections had TONS of footed warm pjs, where the boys had one of each brand ranging in size from 18months-4t. Really. I had an associate eventually go to the back and find me a whopping three pair! Eesh. Come on makers of boys clothes.

P.S. I found them at Kohls after looking at four other places!

Why I love my Drewbie

1. Where we met - Well depends....the first place was the Transy tennis courts when Amber and I were playing and Drew "accidently" hit his ball over there. We officially met in Julia's dorm.

2. Our First Date - We went to the Outback- which was very sweet of him because he hates steak, but knew I loved it.

3. How long did we date before we were married? - 3 years

4. How long have we been Hitched? - 3 years in June

5. Favorite Feature - Physical feature- his smile :) and his blue eyes

6. Favorite Quality - Drew's sense of humor- he can take any stressful situation and make it funny.

7. His nickname for me - babe

8. His Favorite Color - Yellow

9. His Favorite Sport - Baseball- loves ALL sports- football, tennis, golf, basketball, but his passion is baseball. Brayden doesn't have a chance

10. Who Said I Love You first - Drew did. He actually said it to me in Spanish first because he thought it was too early to say. :)

11. Our First Kiss when and where - In my dorm room- I was sitting on his back studying for a stats test and rubbing his shoulders, and he pulled me down for a smooch

12. Favorite couple thing to do - go to eat, watch movies, play games

13. His Hidden Talent -Drew has too many out in the open talents-everything he does it seems to be better than me- which is annoying- except for iceskating, dancing, and Disney Scene It :)

14. His Favorite Music - He likes oldies (I mean real oldies), country (but only recently started listening so doesn't know some of the stuff when we were growing up)

15. What I admire most about him - He is an amazing dad. He is there for Brayden and tries really hard to help me out with him.

16. His favorite pastimes - golfing, playing poker, watching sports

17. Will he read this? - Well he is sitting here

Snowed in!

So the last few days we have been snowed in the house. It has been great to spend the week with the baby. We have huing out, he has played with the pots and pans, eaten like a crazed baby, played in the tub, I have enjoyed having the week off work and being able to clean the house, READ (just read the host...very good!), cook (I don't mind when I'm not so busy with school), and play with my sweet boy. He has done very well being at home, napping like a champ, laughing, playing.

Lynsie's shower and Caleb's birthday

Well Saturday Brooke and I threw a baby shower for Lynsie and her sweet baby girl Emmie Kate. Now I keep calling her Emmie Kate but she hasn't decided if she is going to call her by one name or both. It was so good to see her, I feel like I never get to see her enough since she has moved to Owensboro, and she was ADORABLE. As most of you know, I didn't love being pregnant but seeing her makes me realize how amazing it all really is. She seems so excited and I know she will be a great Mommy. It was good to see lots of my friends there as well and catch up. Brayden went to the shower with me and actually did really well. He took two naps in Ella's crib. Maybe we should take him there to sleep?!? :)
Then last night we headed to Blake and Lauren's in Cincinnati for Caleb's first birthday party. The actual party was during Lynsie's shower so we had come to visit. Caleb was too cute, and him and Brayden played with his new wagon, swing set, and other toys. We watched the video of him eating (and playing) in his farm birthday cake. (It was too cute, Blake made it!) The boys went to bed and we were able to play games. Brayden slept in a pack-n-play in our room and did well. Then this morning the boys played some more, and we talked about going to the beach this summer. It will be quite a trip with out little men! We left after Brayden napped and headed home! Happy birthday Caleb!!

Brayden and some Big News

Brayden is majorly cutting some teeth. He is jamming his whole fist in his mouth and going crazy with that. He has had a runny nose with it and quite the irritable baby. He has one tooth through and more coming!
So I was so surprised when my cousin called me the other night to tell me she is having a baby! Whitney called and said she is about 7 weeks pregnant, and is having a baby in September. I have been wanting Brayden to have a cousin, and here we go! It will be fun to have them grow up together and play!

Cold day, sickness, tooth, Gran and Gramps visit

Well I was excited to get out of school on Friday for the COLD temperatures! Brayden woke up that day with a runny nose, sneezing and a dry cough so it worked out that I was home with him. We spent the day at home playing.

Friday night was Drew's work's Christmas party (a month late), and it was a luau theme. We went and took Brayden which was interesting. It was in the town of Keene which was about 45 mins away, and Brayden had his cold and it was getting near bedtime when we started to eat. So we couldn't stay very long. But It was really nice to meet all the poeple Drew works with. They all bragged about how great a guy he is. :)

Saturday afternoon Drew's parents, Gran and Gramps, came into town to visit. We ate chilli, and hung out. Then they stayed the night, and watched Brayden on Sunday while Drew and I worked the nursery at church. (we didn't want to take him since he was sick!) He did really well for them, napped an hour and a half, and ate some prunes and a bottle. He was home playing on his sing and play stage when we got back. They stayed through the afternoon and visited, but then wanted to get back home before it was too late.

This weekend I was letting Brayden chew on my fingers as usual and I felt a tooth! On the bottom front poking through. Right beside it is another one coming through as well!

Sunday night we were supposed to visit Sarah, Greg, and Ivy and Kayla and Nick but Brayden napped late and by the time he woke up it was too late to head to lex! I was really disappointed. I really love seeing my friends, and it is hard finding a time when we can all meet. I know it will get easier soon.

7 months!

Brayden Andrew was 7 months old yesterday! Here are some updates!
1. He is now pulling up in his crib. Whenever I try to lay him down for a nap- up comes his little head and I have to walk out so I don't laugh at him. :)
2. He is now preparing for crawling by rocking on his hands and knees! THis is too cute...he gets up on his hands and knees and starts rocking back and forth. He surprised Drew and I one day with this!
3. His hair is ultra thick. I have to cute every two weeks and it continues to thicken and get longer!
4. He eats like a maniac. Three times a day he is getting his solids now. He loves bananas. He tolerates vegetables when I subdue them with a bite of fruit. He likes the biter biscuits, but makes a complete mess.
5. He loves bath time. He loves slapping his arm down on the water and making big splashes. He also loves trying to get the loofah on the faucet so he can put it in his mouth.
6. If you are eating he has to be eating. This is a little difficult since he can't eat much yet besides baby food without choking, but if he sees you putting something in your mouth he has to be doing the same! So you need to have soemthing ready or hide your eating!
7. No teeth yet! We have seen the break in the gum but no little teethers have popped through!
8. He is still growing! Probably about 20 pounds (a few weeks ago was 19.5)
9. Loves being naked.
10. Lights up mine and Drew's life more than we ever imagined!

Goals for 2009

So my friend Terri tagged me for some 2009 New Year's goals. Here are some I will be working on.

1. Calming down- I feel like I constantly go go go as a working mommy, but I know there are times when I just need to sit down and relax and not worry about the house work or the bottles. I just need to relax.

2. Reading more books- I LOVE TO READ and really have been into the Twilight series and the Jodi Picoult books. I read a little over this past year but would like to indulge myself more in this.

3. being a great friend/sister/wife/mommy and a better Christian- Now this is so easier said than done but I do want to work on this. Be there for my friends unconditionally, support my sisters in their lives the way they have been there for me with everything these past few months, really focus on having a better attitude towards my husband (I love him but I really would like to LISTEN to him more instead of just taking my own opinions), not be so stressed out with the baby and work, and focus on having a consisten prayer life.

4. Do something for me. This year even if it is one day or a class or something I would like to do something for me. I have wanted to take yoga, or go on an all day shopping spree. I have been focused on really being here for Brayden and let the me time dwindle.

Ok friends now you know...you can help me now! :)

Funny Story

So last night I went to Crackel Barrel with my mom and sisters (drew had to work late.) Now remember I am standing there holding Brayden throughout the duration of this conversation. I know he is big, but this is just silly. This old lady hostess asks how many and I say four and a baby. And she says, "Honey you mean five" and I said "No I mean four adult seats and a baby seat" And she asks if we wanted a booster or high chair. THEN if he wanted crayons and a coloring sheet. Really. He would eat the crayons.

He did better with sleep last night. He is just not doing very long naps at his sitter's two days a week and that effects him at night...I hope today is better!

Mommy 911 AGAIN!!

Ok fellow mommy friends I need whatever advice you have to offer on the following.

1. Brayden's sleep. Since he was sick he had started waking up every fourty five minutes in the night and the only thing that would calm him down was the bottle. Friday he was cleared healthy and we started to break that habit. Friday night he was up from 11:30-12:00 crying and 1:00-2:00 (Now I go in every five minutes and check on him). Saturday night he was up 4:00-4:10. And SUnday night 6:00. So it got much better. Then last night it was every 45 minutes again!! I'm not sure what to do....I am back at work and would like to sleep, but most importantly I want him to be able to sleep. He seems fine once he is awake he is happy for the day but the nighttime is crazy. Help.

2. Food. Right now Brayden is on the cereal bottle, babyfood bottle, bottle, babyfood bottle, bed time bottle. How long did you keep giving the bottles in between the food meals? He is six and a half months and I know eventually will move to just the solids and a bottle in the morning and at night but wasn't sure when...

Thanks!

Weekend

Well this weekend started off with Drew and I going on a date night while my mom kept Brayden. We were excited- we dropped him off at 3 and planned to do some shopping, dinner and a movie and have him picked up at 9. Well I called to check and found out that he had refused to nap! So...we had to skip the movie and go get him in order for him to nap. Bummer.
Saturday we went to Bryn's (my cousins) first birthday party. Brayden loved playing with her and Ryleigh, and loved Bryn's birthday present- the sing along stage. He loved looking at himself in the mirror and watching the lights and music. He liked it so much I went and got hime one! I know I am terrible. Bryn loves Brayden though, and the entire time was trying to hug and kiss him- hilarious.
Yesterday we went to church and Brayden ate his bottle in the service, and I took him to the nursery. Well he got called out of the nursery again because he wouldn't stop crying! They took him out of the exersaucer and he went bananas. Brayden 2 Nursery 0
Then Drew and I headed to Florence to meet his family for dinner for Audra and Roxane's birthdays. We left Brayden with Aunt Megan because it fell right in a nap time. We had fun and he did great with his aunt!
We have been tackling the sleep problem- since his ear infections he was waking up every fourty five minutes at night screaming. Since then we have let him cry it out (I go in and check every three minutes!) and it has gotten better. The first night two hours, last night not till 6 a.m. Much better!

8 great things 2008

Here are 8 great things that happened in 2008!

1. January 29, 2008 We found out we were having a healthy baby boy! I was raised in a family of girls, and had no idea what to expect with a boy and was SO excited.

2. March 2008 I retired (for the time being) from my position as the Royal Spring cheerleading coach after two years. Cheerleading was a passion of mine growing up, and it was amazing to be able to share that with the middle school girls, but it was time to spend more time with the baby coming.

3. June 3, 2008 Drew and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary! We have been together now 5 years, and I love growing our marriage more every day.

4. June 12, 2008 at 3:04 p.m. my sweet Brayden Andrew was born. Weighing in at 8 lbs 10 ounces and 20 inches long he came with a full head of hair! Giving birth was easier than I expected with great help from the epideral, and this was the proudest moment of my life.

5. July 1, 2008 (This wasn't a great thing, but a significant thing in my life) My Grandpa "Pop" passed away from a long battle with pneumonia. He was the first grandparent I have lost, but I know he is so much healthier now in heaven!

6. August 2008 Drew, Brayden, and I went to Hilton Head with Drew's family. We stayed in a house for a week. I LOVE the beach, and it was great to experience it with our 8 week old baby!

7. August 2008 Drew got a job in his field!! After a year and a half search for something in the public health field, Drew got a job at the Lexington Health Deparment as a health educator for tobacco. He worked so hard and I was so proud of him for being so diligent.

8. November 21, 2008 we dedicated Brayden at church. This was an awesome experience in which a lot of our family came to see. God is the foundation of our family, and the sole reason we make it from day to day. We are excited to raise Brayden in church.
