Christmas!

So the Christmas extravaganza is over. It is always hectic and a little stressful to accomodate our families and to try our best to fit everyone in, but we made it! We have taken the attitude of doing what is best for Brayden (and soon to be Keaton) and trying to still see as much family as we can.

Drew's parents and sister came down Christmas Eve afternoon to share in the festivities here in Georgetown.

One Christmas tradition we started was on Christmas Eve we go to church. (Of course we started this tradition before Brayden had a terrible aversion to church!) So we went to Gano on Thursday night which is where my parents and sisters were as well. Brayden lasted through a few songs, and then got upset and COULD NOT be consoled so him and myself spent the Christmas Eve service in the nursery playing with trucks. I guess we did follow tradition, but just spent it in the nursery.

We then went to my parent's house where we had dinner with my parents and sisters and Drew's parents and sister. Brayden got a big catepillar truck, musical drumsticks, and a basketball goal. He loved showing off his hoop skills and kept shooting the ball over and over. I got lots of maternity clothes, and I gave Drew his PS3. Yes, I am a great wife. :)

Christmas morning was spent at our house, and Drew's parents and sister were here to see Brayden. His face was priceless when he came down the steps and saw the toys underneath the tree. He had a lifesize Elmo, another catepillar truck, a bounce turtle, and a cars suitcase. Gran and Grandpa gave him a fisher price nativity set that is precious! He kept running from one toy to the other. Drew's family left shortly after his presents and we hung out at the house for a while.

After nap time we headed to Drew's aunt's house in Cincinnati for Christmas night. (We missed my dad's family but it was impossible to fit everyone in!) There we had a yummy dinner and Brayden received a whole bunch of Disney's Cars gear for his big boy room.

We went on up north to Drew's parents house that night. We did their family Christmas on Saturday. Brayden got a potty seat, and the fisher price little people animals a-z collection which is awesome. I collect the willow tree figures, and his mom got me the willow tree nativity set!! It is beautiful!

Sunday afternoon we headed home to KY, and went to see my mom's family as soon as we got back. It was nice to see my aunt from Florida, and it was fun watching all the little cousins running around!

I am really enjoying my time off, and this week am catching up with family and spending time with my sweet boy!

Brayden and Keaton updates!

Yesterday Brayden went to the doctor for his 18 month checkup. I was already a little wary about getting his shots because he has had a cough and runny nose. Come to find out he has an ear infection so we did forgo the shots for two more weeks when they will check his ear again. They put him on an antibiotic, and hopefully his ear will clear up!

Every time the nurse of doctor even approaches Brayden he freaks out. Putting him on the scale, measuring his length, and head, listening to his heart, looking in his ears and eyes all result in a meltdown that would make you think they were stabbing him! We are a little dramatic at the doctor's office!

Besides the meltdowns and the ear infection, Brayden is growing beautifully. He weighed 27 pounds in the 60 percentile, measured 33 1/2 inches in the 75 percentile, and his head was in the 95 percentile. :) Dr. Q. was very impressed with how he had grown two inches in the last three months and how tall he had gotten! He is also right on target with the milestones.

Today I went to the doctor to get an update on Keaton. I had gained 6 pounds this month which brought me to 121. My weight is now gaining instead of losing. Dr. Spirek was very excited about my weight gain, and although Drew tries to give me a hard time about how my weight fluctuates so much she told me I need to gain as much as I can. So I am very excited about enjoying my foods. Keaton's heart rate was 160- he is just as active as his brother always was. We go back next month for the glucose test.

Until then we will be enjoying Christmas break. I am spending time with my sweet Brayden and getting some rest! My house is clean and I haven't had to rush like I normally do during the work week. It is very nice!

Updates!

So I am so excited to have the next two weeks off of work! I love my job, but this year has been trying with my extra load of students. I also love the time to reconnect with my sweet little boy and spend some quality time with him.

Brayden has been sick the last few days with a cold. He doesn't like taking his medicine, and has been extra sleepy.

We did go to his swim lesson today at the Pavilion. We started these a few weeks ago, and he does really well. He is the youngest one in the class, but he jumps in the pool, reaches for objects, is learning to float and kick and become really comfortable with the water.

Brayden still loves his books, and will bring a book to you and back up and sit in your lap for you to read it to him. He also loves music. As soon as we get in the car he says music and we have to turn on his veggie tale cd. Whenever we are upstairs we have to listen to his music and jump on the bed "monkey" as he likes to call it, while the music is playing. When the song ends he bounces down on his bottom and claps. Then we are up and bouncing again for the next song.

He knows his colors, can repeat the letters in the alphabet after me, and can tell you pretty much anything that he wants. He still gets his paci in bed, but has been a trooper with letting go of it during the day. We are thinking about trying taking the paci away soon, but we will see how that goes! He was terrified of the bath tub for a few months, but now loves bath time again. He is terrified of getting his nails or hair cut. Which is real convienent since he needs that done all the time! He loves looking at the Christmas cards we have received, and naming the people in the pictures.

We have been wondering how he is going to do with the arrival of his baby brother, and thankfully there is a baby at Krisi's house that is getting him used to a newborn. He has done so well with baby Sarah that I am optimistic. He says "gentle" when he touches her, and whenever he talks to Sarah or about Sarah he talks in a high pitched voice.

Brayden goes to the doctor on Monday for his 18 month check up, and we go to the doctor on Tuesday for Keaton's check up. I will post about how both boys are doing!

A little overdue...It's a boy!!

So Drew and I found out a few weeks ago that we are having another healthy baby boy!! We really didn't care either way what this baby was going to be, and although I was sad for the little girl I didn't have for a few days we are so blessed and excited for Brayden to have a little brother! He was big and healthy! We decided on naming him Keaton Micah. Brayden is starting to understand a little more, and the other day he touched my belly and said baby. I don't think he has much clue as to how that is going to affect his life, but he now acknowledges there is a baby besides himself. :)
