Easter weekend and Keaton update

What a beautiful weekend we had for Easter! Saturday morning we went to the Big Bunny Party at Crossroads here in Georgetown. Don and Roxane came down to be a part of the festivities as well. Brayden hunted eggs and actually got into it this year! They also had inflatables but he was content watching the kids from the outside. (He has his daddy's sense of adventure:) Sunday morning he got his Easter basket filled with Mickey Mouse goodies, and then dressed in his outfit. It was a hand-me-down from a lady I teach with- pin striped navy suit coat, white and navy polo and navy pants with navy and white boat shoes. TOO CUTE! I had signed up to work the nursery at church so he came with me. We came back and had lunch at our house, and then headed over to my parents for an egg hunt with him and Ryleigh and Bryn. They were so funny!

Today we had our weekly dr's visit and we are 38 1/2 weeks. They did an ultrasound to see how big Keaton is, and he measured 9 15!!!!! The tech kept saying she couldn't believe how big his head is, and his legs wouldn't fit on the screen. So the decision is .....Monday April 12th Keaton will be here via c-section. We will head to the dr. Monday morning and have our sweet "little" boy! :) We couldn't be more excited.

Aquarium and Keaton update

Last weekend Drew Brayden and I met Audra Chris and Don and Roxane in Newport at the aquarium. Brayden loved it! It was good that he was a little nervous in the big crowd, and didn't want to get down so we were able to carry him through. He saw the fish, turtles, crocodiles but his favorite part were the penguins! He laid down on his belly to watch them in the tank and "waddle waddled" all around with them. It was very sweet.

We are 38 weeks tomorrow, and getting more excited about the arrival of Keaton! We go back on Tuesday morning for an ultrasound to check for size and hopefully to make final plans. We are so excited!

Ohio visit, big boy bed, & time-outs

Well we hadn't been to Drew's parents house in a while, and we figured with Keaton coming soon we should take a trip up there. Audra also came down from law school in Columbus so she could see Brayden. We headed up Saturday morning, and spent the day there. Today we went to their church, and Brayden did good in the service for a while until he wanted to get down and run around. Grandpa took him out while the service finished. After nap time we headed down to Drew's aunts in Cincinnati for dinner. It was super yummy, and it was good to see them. Brayden loves more and more getting to see his Gran, Grandpa, and Aunt Audra. He gets excited when he sees them, and loves being spoiled by them.

A week ago we decided that Brayden probably needed to start sleeping in his new room in his toddler bed. We didn't want to wait to after Keaton was born to start that new transition. We were really nervous about him staying in the bed, but he did so good! He was scared the first few nights, and we sang him a few songs until he relaxed and calmed down. We walked out before he fell asleep because we didn't want him to get used to falling asleep with us in there. He cried for a minute then went to sleep. He then stayed in his bed till we came to get him the next morning! Since then he has been doing great, and tonight didn't cry at all! What a sweet boy! It makes the birth of Keaton a little less stressful knowing we are getting a few things on the way with Brayden.

We also decided that it was time for some discipline with our almost 21 month old. So far we have been using our voice and doing verbal corrections, but more and more he has been challenging us. Thankfully I am a huge fan of super nanny, and followed her procedure word for word. Drew and I were really apprehensive, and doubted that he would actaully do it correctly. the first night took about ten minutes of putting him back on the rug, but after his second time-out he now does them perfect! The hardest part was Drew and I just realizing that he really could handle it, and having us stick through that first one to make sure he learned what the expectation was.

We are heading to the doctor tommorrow for a check-up with Keaton, and I am anxious to see what they have to say!

Shower

I feel incredibly blessed to have such wonderful friends and family that threw me a shower today. Laurel and Brooke planned and threw a shower today for Keaton Micah at my parents' house. There was an adorable sailboat cake, blue punch, and yummy food.

We got so many gifts! It was so exciting to get formula, diapers, outfits, and items that had Keaton's name embroidered on it. It is such a different experience this time, because we didn't need the big items and we knew how wonderful all the diapers and formula are! It also made me very excited about Keaton. Our world is all the time Brayden, and I love that little boy with all of my being, but it was nice to have a day to focus on his little brother.

Thank you all so much for thinking and caring for us and our growing family!

32 Weeks

We went to the doctor today, and everything was good. I gained 3 pounds. The heart rate was 149. She is still worried about my blood sugar, and did some more glucose tests today with blood work. We go back in two weeks. We will be setting up an ultrasound to find out the size of the baby, and making plans for delivery!

Keaton update

So I went to the doctor yesterday for our 30 week checkup. Crazy that we are already this far! I gained 3 1/2 lbs in the last 3 weeks, and his heart rate was 149. He is measuring wonderful and my weight gain is normal.

She was still a little concerned with my glucose levels- although they weren't in the diabetic range they were still elevated and said that I was glucose resistant. She said that could explain why both boys were big.

She wants to keep a close eye on my growth, and is going to do another ultrasound at 36 weeks. From there she will make a decision about inducing, or possibly even a c-section. She wants to be cautious, because Brayden wasn't an easy delivery.

We now go every two weeks to the doctor, and are getting closer and closer!

Brayden is almost 20 months old, and actually got to hear his brother's heart beat yesterday. I don't think he was listening- he was playing with the buttons on my chair, but he was at least there! He is now counting 2-twenty- all the tenns numbers sound the same. :) He likes saying the alphabet- c, k, r, w, x, y, z He loves the letter w. He also loves Sarah (the little girl at the babysitter.) He walks around the house calling out to her randomly. He is still terrified of the bath tub, haircuts, and nail cutting.

Our family is getting closer and closer to Megan's wedding, and Audra's graduation from law school. We are super proud of our sisters!

April 13th

So I went to the doctor last week for a baby Keaton check-up. I had gained six pounds this month and am now up to 128. The heart rate was 160, and everything looked great! Dr. Spirek has been concerned about how big Keaton is, especially after how big of a baby Brayden was, and so she went ahead and scheduled my induction date a week early! She had orginially suggusted Monday April 12th, and then said the 13th since Brayden was born on the 13th. So it looks like that is when we are going to get to meet our sweet little boy! That is the week after spring break so I will be done teaching once we hit spring break. Now that we have had a few snow days- I may have to go back for the last few days of school. So I was once the teacher that LOVED snow days, but don't want any more this year, because the more we have- the more I will have to make up.

Brayden is now 19 months old and he cracks me up every day. He is counting 2-10, and recognizes all of these numbers. He talks all the time and is SO active. He LOVES to read and has recently fallen in love with Chick-a-chick-a boom boom, and Where the Wild Things are. He will roar and gnash his teeth and show his claws! He still doesn't understand that he is going to have a baby brother, but I know he will be great!
