Ohio visit, big boy bed, & time-outs

Well we hadn't been to Drew's parents house in a while, and we figured with Keaton coming soon we should take a trip up there. Audra also came down from law school in Columbus so she could see Brayden. We headed up Saturday morning, and spent the day there. Today we went to their church, and Brayden did good in the service for a while until he wanted to get down and run around. Grandpa took him out while the service finished. After nap time we headed down to Drew's aunts in Cincinnati for dinner. It was super yummy, and it was good to see them. Brayden loves more and more getting to see his Gran, Grandpa, and Aunt Audra. He gets excited when he sees them, and loves being spoiled by them.

A week ago we decided that Brayden probably needed to start sleeping in his new room in his toddler bed. We didn't want to wait to after Keaton was born to start that new transition. We were really nervous about him staying in the bed, but he did so good! He was scared the first few nights, and we sang him a few songs until he relaxed and calmed down. We walked out before he fell asleep because we didn't want him to get used to falling asleep with us in there. He cried for a minute then went to sleep. He then stayed in his bed till we came to get him the next morning! Since then he has been doing great, and tonight didn't cry at all! What a sweet boy! It makes the birth of Keaton a little less stressful knowing we are getting a few things on the way with Brayden.

We also decided that it was time for some discipline with our almost 21 month old. So far we have been using our voice and doing verbal corrections, but more and more he has been challenging us. Thankfully I am a huge fan of super nanny, and followed her procedure word for word. Drew and I were really apprehensive, and doubted that he would actaully do it correctly. the first night took about ten minutes of putting him back on the rug, but after his second time-out he now does them perfect! The hardest part was Drew and I just realizing that he really could handle it, and having us stick through that first one to make sure he learned what the expectation was.

We are heading to the doctor tommorrow for a check-up with Keaton, and I am anxious to see what they have to say!

It is amazing how much they really understand when it comes to time out. I am always surprised at how Caleb sits on the rug and doesn't move.

Yeah for Brayden sleeping in his new bed! I really need to think about putting Caleb in one. Countdown time til Keaton arrives!
